About About

Bisazza is one of the top luxury brands in the design sector and the industry’s leading producer of glass mosaic for interior and outdoor decoration. Established in 1956 in Alte Vicenza, Northern Italy, the company has become a trailblazer, marked by a dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, a mastery of modern technologies with an ability to read and anticipate the needs of the global market.

Bisazza employs 795 people and has twelve flagship stores - Antwerp, Barcelona, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Moscow, New York, Paris, Rome, Tokyo and, in June 2009, Chicago. There are also sixteen branches worldwide in Australia, Belgium/Luxembourg, China (Hong Kong and Shanghai), France, Germany, Holland, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Spain, United Kingdom, U.S.A., and United Arab Emirates (Dubai). The distribution network includes more than seven thousand local retailers.

The results of the company have been consistently growing in the last five years and confirm the efficacy of the strategy of Piero Bisazza, CEO, who continues to focus on crucial aspects: the strength of the brand, the opening of flagship stores, the collaboration with international designers, the company's commitment to excellence, advanced technology and high quality manufacturing.

For several years now, Bisazza has been part of Altagamma, an association supporting the best Italian luxury brands.

In 2007, Bisazza was cited in a survey realized by Pambianco Strategie di Impresa, one of the most important consulting firms for strategy development of Fashion and Luxury organizations, with a second place ranking out of 250 top Italian companies in the design and luxury market.

In keeping with Piero Bisazza's strategy to continually increase the growth and development of the business, Mediobanca, Italy's leading investment bank, became a minor stakeholder of Bisazza in November 2007, with a 14.3% share of the business.

Since 2004, the Bisazza Design Studio, a team of young designers directed by architect Carlo Dal Bianco, has been coordinating the company's style designing its flagship stores and product collections.

Over the years, the company has worked with leading figures in architecture, design, art and fashion, notably Aldo Cibic, Sandro Chia, Romeo Gigli, Michael Graves, Jaime Hayon, Isao Hosoe, Alessandro Mendini, Paola Navone, Fabio Novembre, Fabrizio Plessi, Andrée Putman, Ettore Sottsass, Studio Job, Patricia Urquiola and Marcel Wanders.

In 2006, the launch of Bisazza Home, the first collection of furniture and accessories designed by world-class designers, expanded the company’s offering for home interiors.

In 2007, Bisazza presented the second enriched edition of the Bisazza Home Collection during Milan Design Week.

During the latest Milan Design Week 2008, Bisazza presented two remarkable installations by Andrée Putman and Jaime Hayon. Each environment was strikingly different to the other, expressing the highly distinctive style of each designer and the wide spectrum of Bisazza’s expertise. The elegant furnishings of the Entrevue collection - the first collaboration between Bisazza and Andrée Putman - stood out with pure, essential lines offset by a chic contrast between black and white. Jaime Hayon’s installation, Jet Set, was a sophisticated “fantasy” airplane with a decidedly surreal shape, elaborately decorated with white gold mosaic tiles and leather inserts.

As part of Milan Design Week 2008, Bisazza also made its debut at the Swarovski Crystal Palace with the installation “AQUA JEWELS: CRYSTAL SHOWER & CRYSTAL MOSAIC” designed by Marcel Wanders. As its contribution to the Wanders’ project, Bisazza created huge murals, 10m wide, decorated with Swarovski crystals and Bisazza mosaic applied entirely by hand.

Bisazza has also collaborated with other companies famed for their contributions to great contemporary design.

Bisazza worked with MINI/BMW to create the “MINI wears Bisazza”, project, which led to five personalised cars wearing custom made “dresses”. First showcased in 2005 at the Milan Design Week, the cars have been on tour ever since to the design and fashion hot spots of the world.

The first collaboration between Bisazza and the Danish company Fritz Hansen began in 2005, when Bisazza produced a personalized Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chair. The collaboration then has continued with Mosaic Super Ellipse, a collection of nine unique tables, and a tribute to the original Ellipse table. To celebrate this outstanding table, Bisazza has created nine versions of it with gold mosaic tops, designed by Carlo Dal Bianco and showcased at the Milan Design Week in 2007.
